Bismarck, ND – Tomorrow morning, Friday, January 31, 2025, the North Dakota Ethics Commission will testify in support of HB 1360, a bill designed to improve the enforcement of ethics laws in North Dakota state government.  The aim of the bill is to create constructive, educational, and efficient enforcement for state ethics laws to promote transparency and accountability in government consistent with Article XIV of the North Dakota Constitution.

House Bill 1360 is the product of five years of data on the Commission’s current complaint process, extensive research, and many productive discussions between the Commission, legislators, legislative leadership, public officials, legislative council, lobbyists, and the public.

In conjunction with HB 1360, the Commission has draft ethics rules under consideration.  HB 1360 and these rules are the result of a joint effort by the Commission and the legislative assembly to improve the enforcement of ethical standards in the State of North Dakota.
